Introduction of Micro Solar/Wind Grid Tie Inverter System

1.Introduction of the System

With the micro solar/wind grid tie inverter, the power energy generated by solar panel/micro wind generator can be directly merged into the public power grid by its output cable without the assistance of extra equipment. Easy to install, convenient and reliable are the most remarkable features of the System.

The solar panel can be connected to micro grid tie sine-wave power inverter by means of photovoltaic materials such as monocrystalline or polycrystalline, and the power of the inverter is decided by the connected solar panel/micro wind generator. The power of the System can be standardized according to the actual application.

2.Advantages of the System

Comparing with the traditional solar energy grid system, this System has the following positive features:
(1). Low cost for unit power, easy installation, full use of the building resources in urban area: The system can be installed at any sunny-side or windy-side of the buildings with low cost of maintenance.
(2). Convenient combination for use: The System can be either individually merged into the grid or combined into arrays for grid tie. The combination can be made according to user’s need while the number of combination is not limited by the System itself, which means you can add or reduce the number of System according to your needs.Traditional solar energy grid tie systems are usually a connected group of solar panels for higher input voltage, and then a high power grid tie inverter is used to merge the solar power into the public grid, while the power of the grid tie inverter has to be compatible with that of the solar panels. However, when more solar panels are required, if the total power of the solar panels exceeds that of the equipped grid tie inverter, then another very expensive grid tie inverter has to be added.
(3). Not interactive between the units of the combination system. The traditional solar grid tie system just combines the solar panels for higher output voltage before connected to the input port of the grid tie inverter. Despite of the MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) function of the grid tie inverter, this maximum power point is based on the entire combined solar panels, if one of the solar panels has some problems due to falling leaves, bird drops, dust, shadow etc, the overall performance of the panels would be affected, which would lead to the under-performance of the whole system. However, our micro System has solved the above problem. If poor performance occurs in one of the solar panels, then its poor performance would not affect the performance of the other units in the whole System.
(4). Capacity of the whole System improved. As the MPPT in the grid tie inverter of the traditional solar grid tie system is based on the entire system, the maximization acquired can only be the maximization of the system series instead of the maximization of individual solar panels, because compatibility errors exist in the system series. However, as our System is equipped with a separate micro solar grid tie inverter, and the micro grid tie inverter has the same MPPT function, therefore every single solar panel is at its maximum power point, hence the overall system acquires its best performance.
(5). Extremely low power consumption. As the equipped micro solar grid tie inverter is made with digital logic components and low consumption MCU, the power consumption of the inverter is extremely low, therefore no extra power consumption would occur if more medium-micro grid tie inverters are added to the System.

3.Way of merging

See Picture 2 for the illustration of an individual grid tie system. When the System-connected solar panels are installed in a proper sunny-side place, and the output plug of the micro solar grid tie inverter in the System is plugged into the wall outlet, the power energy transformed from the solar panels can be merged into public grid. If there are more systems, then it can form an array of grid series and each system is installed the same way as the individual System is done, and a strong network is formed by connecting all the Systems to the AC bus bar. The System can be either cumulated or individual. The total power of the grid tie is the total sum of the power in the system array.

4. User’s Guide
(1). Connect the output cable of the solar panels to the DC input port of the grid tie inverter and please ensure correct electrode, i.e. the positive electrode of the solar panel connects to the positive electrode of the grid tie inverter and negative to negative. The machine has a built-in alarm device for wrong connection, which would give out a long alarm of “Beep----“ if the electrodes are wrongly connected. For example, if the recommended maximum DC output cable for GP-350W is 10AWG, then the tolerant current is 30A. The length must be shorter than 8 metres, because too long cables can result in more reduction of voltage. The output power range for the solar panel and the wind generator is 20W~350W (GP-350W). See chart below for cables used for relevant models.

(2). Choose the grid tie inverter with correct specifications according to the AC voltage of your grid;

(3). Plug the output electric wire of the grid tie inverter into the outlet of public grid.

(4). When the grid tie inverter detects normal performance of the solar panels and the grid, the grid tie inverter starts working and merge the solar power into the grid;

The three green LED indicators would flash cyclically from left to right, the faster the indicators flash, it means the more power energy is being merged into the grid.

(5). When there is a power cut in the public grid, the grid tie inverter cannot detect any electricity in the public grid, at this time the inverter would stop merging power supply into the grid so as to ensure the safety of the repairmen, this feature is called “Island Protection”.
